This bibliography and resource guide was designed to be an easy-to-use reference for advocates working to reduce firearms violence. This guide contains the article citations for the most important and commonly referenced statistics about firearms and firearms violence in the United States. Most of the articles and studies that are referenced are free except where noted. Information about how to obtain the referenced article or study is included in each citation. There is also a list of organizations in Appendix One of this guide, and a short primer about understanding and using statistics in Appendix Two. Comments about this guide are welcomed.



The Violence Policy Center is a national non-profit educational organization that conducts research on violence in America and works to develop violence-reduction policies and proposals. The Center examines the role of firearms in America, conducts research on firearms violence, and works to decrease gun-related death and injury.
