House Gun Bill Riddled With Loopholes The House leadership plans to take up gun control legislation as soon as Thursday, June 17. The base bill, introduced by Reps. Henry Hyde (R-IL) and Bill McCollum (R-FL), is far weaker than the proposals passed by the Senate last month, and does nothing to regulate the gun industry itself. The following press releases and fact sheets highlight key shortcomings of the House bill. Supporters of gun control hope to offer amendments addressing these flaws as the bill is debated.
