Black Homicide Victimization

To educate the public and policymakers about the disproportionate and tragic effect homicide has on African Americans in our nation, each year since 2007 the VPC has published Black Homicide Victimization in the United States. Using unpublished Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Supplementary Homicide Reports (SHR) data, the study offers state-by-state as well as national data on all reported homicides of black victims in our nation. Released each year in January, the goal of the study is to draw attention to the ongoing crisis homicide represents to the black community while aiding violence prevention efforts.
